Covid at the University of Edinburgh

This graph shows the reported number of Covid-19 cases at the University of Edinburgh since 28 September 2020, according to the University website.

It appears that the University is no longer releasing figures. The last update was on 29 April 2022.

Here's all the data in a csv file.

Whatever limitations the data released by the University has, these graphs share. There are gaps in the data because the University has not released a figure every day. I have no information about how the University obtains its figures or what they represent, beyond what has been published on the website.

The wording accompanying the data on the University website has changed over time. From about 1 October 2020 to 21 October 2020, the figure was described as the number of "live cases" (without definition). From 22 October 2020 to 26 September 2021, the wording was:

We have a total of X active cases reported to us by our students and staff. Active cases are defined as those who have reported to us that they have tested positive for Coronavirus and who are currently within their self-isolation period.
Since 27 September 2021, the wording has been:
Positive cases: There have been X cases reported by our students and staff
(with no indication of time frame). I don't know whether the counting method has changed as the wording has changed.
