Completion of the proof for Family 3.2

Proof of Theorem 83.1. Suppose that FF is a prime divisor over XX with βX(F)≤0\beta_X(F)\le0. Proposition 85.4 places its centre in the reduced support ℓ\ell of a double conic, disjoint from DD. In the normal form of Lemma 84.2, suppose first that gg has distinct roots. Lemma 84.6 shows that the cubic fibre has exactly two singular points along ℓ\ell, both of type A1A_1. The local calculation [43, Lemma 7.1] applies to this double conic and gives δp(X)≥56/45\delta_p(X)\ge56/45 at every p∈ℓ\Dp\in\ell\setminus D, a contradiction. This invocation of the local lemma imposes no condition on the other double conics of XX.

It remains to consider g=r2g=r^2 and f=s(cr+ds)f=s(cr+ds), where d≠0d\ne0. Extract GG as in Lemma 84.4. Corollary 87.3 gives δ(G,Γ/2;W)≥1\delta(G,\Gamma/2;W)\ge1. The strict form of Abban–Zhuang adjunction yields βX(F)≥(AX(G)−SX(G))ordF(G)=3356ordF(G)>0.\beta_X(F)\ge \bigl(A_X(G)-S_X(G)\bigr)\operatorname{ord}_F(G) =\frac{33}{56}\operatorname{ord}_F(G)>0. Indeed, the centre on the extraction is contained in GG, because cX(F)⊂ℓc_X(F)\subset\ell. To see explicitly why a refined threshold equal to one suffices, take bases compatible with the GG-filtration and ordF\operatorname{ord}_F. Restrict the moving part of their pullbacks to GG. Inversion of adjunction for the plt extraction and the refined threshold estimate give, upon taking limits, SX(F)≤AX(F)−AX(G)ordF(G)+SX(G)ordF(G).S_X(F)\le A_X(F)-A_X(G)\operatorname{ord}_F(G) +S_X(G)\operatorname{ord}_F(G). This is precisely the displayed positive remainder, and contradicts the choice of FF. ◻

Remark 88.1. The restriction to a cubic fibre is used only for the published reduced-conic estimates and for double conics with two ordinary double points. The new argument for the remaining double conics does not depend on their cubic-surface singularity type. It uses the smoothness of XX, the exact graded section spaces, and the pair (G,Γ/2)(G,\Gamma/2). In particular, it includes both c=0c=0 and c≠0c\ne0. The threefold Zariski decomposition on the weighted extraction is replaced by an exact dimension count and an exact weight sum. The different is retained throughout; the bounded odd factor in the refined sections is not a reason to omit it.
